Closes on Biotechnology Firm's Expansion in Shirley

FARMINGVILLE, NY (December 19, 2023) – Frederick C. Braun III, Chairman of the Town of Brookhaven Industrial Development Agency (IDA) announced that the IDA has closed on an agreement to provide economic development incentives for the planned expansion of a group of related biotechnology firms in Shirley.

The closing took place on December 19, 2023.

The benefits, approved by the IDA at its Jan. 11, 2023 meeting, will assist the landlord, CD Ramsay Realty LLC, and its affiliates to build an 18,500-square-foot building on 4.5 vacant acres at 17 Ramsay Road in the Shirley Industrial Park. CD Ramsay has another 11,800-square-foot facility adjacent to the project. The cost of the expansion is estimated to be approximately $4.9 million.

The IDA previously assisted CD Ramsay in 2018, when it constructed its current facility at 45 Ramsay Road. At that time, the company indicated it would create 22 jobs at the site. It now has 30 and plans to add another eight when the new facility is completed.

The affiliates include Creative Biomart Inc., Creative Biolabs Inc., Creative Dynamics Inc., CD Biosciences Inc. and BOCSCI Inc.

The companies distribute various proteins, antibodies, antigens and enzymes to researchers in the life sciences community for clinical research, molecular diagnostics and biopharmaceutical drug development.
