BROOKHAVEN INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT AGENCY GRANTS INCENTIVES FOR UI SUPPLIES, UI DIGITAL MOVE TO YAPHANK

11/09/16

FARMINGVILLE, NY (Nov. 7, 2016) – Frederick C. Braun, III, chairman of the Town of Brookhaven Industrial Development Agency (IDA), announced that the agency has closed on a package of economic incentives for UI Supplies Inc., a toner cartridge remanufacturer supplier, and its affiliate, UI Digital, a fast-growing start-up producer of short-run label printing equipment established by UniNet Imaging, Inc.

The companies plan to relocate from Holbrook to a 15,860 square-foot building at 22 Old Dock Road in Yaphank. The companies expect to have 13 workers within two years. The incentive package for the UI Supplies / UI Digital $2.2 million project, approved at the IDA’s Oct. 19 meeting, closed on Nov. 7. The companies’ application had been considered under the IDA’s adaptive-reuse policy which helps a business that is moving into a vacant building. “We are pleased that UI Digital and UI Supplies have chosen to relocate this new, exciting business to the Town of Brookhaven and bring as many as 12 new jobs to the town,” said Braun. UI Digital produces a series of color digital printers sold under the iColor brand that can be used to produce product labels and t-shirts. UI traces its roots to a small business started in Ronkonkoma in 1985 as Cheeks Products and later known as Summit Laser Products and Summit Technologies. The company was acquired in 2007 by UniNet Imaging, Inc. “It’s our intention to remain here and grow iColor into a large worldwide printer OEM,” Joe Dovi, UI Digital’s chief operating officer, said in a letter to the IDA. “In just 3 years we have already seen substantial growth in this new division, with sales growing month over month and awareness of our brand growing at an exponential rate all over the world.”
