Brookhaven IDA Closes on Construction of New Apartments in Manorville

BROOKHAVEN, NY—Town of Brookhaven Industrial Development Agency (IDA), Chairman Frederick C. Braun III announced the closing of an economic incentives package that will assist in the construction of a 125-apartment complex in Manorville.

“The need for housing on Long Island is one of the most critical issues we are facing,” said Braun. “We have partnered with a developer who worked with the community in this important process and will continue to be an active member of Manorville and the Town of Brookhaven.”

The new development, Sun River Town Homes, is located north of Sunrise Highway, between Jerusalem Hollow and Moriches-Middle Island Roads.

“We are proud to partner with the IDA to help us provide more solutions to the lack of housing in our region,” said Heatherwood President, Chris Capece. “Our company has been responsibly developing real estate across Long Island and helping enhance communities for over 70 years.  The real estate industry is a primary driver of job creation on Long Island even in these turbulent times. Sun River is an exciting new project, and we are excited to get started.”

The available amenities to be shared with Heatherwood’s sister community, Villas at Pine Hills will include a pool and best-in-class outdoor recreation space. Sun River will also feature an affordable housing component.

“The IDA’s financial assistance for this project calls for a diversity of housing that will keep construction and operating costs at a level that permits achievable rents,” said Braun. “The construction will create jobs and provide an economic benefit to the community. Sun River Town Homes will be a much-needed boost to our Town.”
