01/19/18

FARMINGVILLE, NY (Jan. 18, 2018) – Frederick C. Braun III, chairman of the Town of Brookhaven Industrial Development Agency (IDA), announced that the Agency has closed on a package of economic incentives that will assist McKeon Rolling Steel Door Co. expand in Bellport.

McKeon Rolling Steel Door Co., Inc., which was founded in 1946 and moved to Bellport from Brooklyn in 2008 with assistance from the IDA, plans to build a 30,000-square-foot, second building at a cost of more than $3 million near its current 57,159-square-foot facility at 44 Sawgrass Drive in Bellport. The company has three additional locations throughout the country and indicated that it would consider moving out of state without the IDA assistance. The benefits package was approved by the IDA in July 2017 and closed on Dec. 21. McKeon, which manufactures rolling doors, grilles, fire doors and specialty custom engineered closures, currently employs 68 people in the Town and plans to add 10 new jobs within two years of the project’s completion. “We are pleased that McKeon is expanding within the Town of Brookhaven and bringing new jobs to our town instead of moving out of state,” said Braun. “This expansion will help us dig our roots strategically deeper into the Northeast region and accommodate the increase in real estate construction, development, modernization and the resulting demand for our customized products,” said the company’s owner and president, Joseph McKeon. “With the economic development assistance of the IDA and the efforts of our local attorney, Andrew Presberg, the overall project became more affordable. It enticed us to stay and build rather than relocate our entire Northeast operation.”
