BROOKHAVEN, NY (Dec. 4, 2019) – The Brookhaven Industrial Development Agency (IDA) has been recognized by Long Island’s official tourism agency, Discover Long Island, as the recipient of the 2019 Industrial Advancement Award.  The award will be shared by the IDA Collaboration, composed of Nassau County, Suffolk County, Towns of Brookhaven, Islip, Babylon, Riverhead, Hempstead, and City of Glen Cove IDAs, who together supplied critical funding for Discover Long Island’s “BeLONG on Long Island” campaign.

The effort raised $100,000 with the cooperation of the eight-member IDA Collaboration, Discover Long Island, and a matching-funds grant from National Grid. “BeLONG on Long Island” is geared at spreading awareness about Long Island tourism and commerce through targeted messaging and advertising. The initiative will highlight Long Island’s downtowns, destinations, natural resources, and unique attractions to encourage visitors throughout the year.

The following statement was released by Lisa M. G. Mulligan, CEO of the Brookhaven Industrial Development Agency and Local Development Corporation, a recipient of the Industry Advancement Award:

“Working with Discover Long Island on this initiative has been fulfilling and eye opening, with their abundant resources and shared goals of making Long Island more prosperous through tourism and business.  We were proud to work alongside our fellow Industrial Development Agencies with whom we are collectively working to bring business and attractions to our island and make life on Long Island a better place for each and every community.  We would like to thank Discover Long Island for this honor and look forward to future efforts to further progress here at home.”
