$37 million project in Selden will include 10% affordable units

FARMINGVILLE, NY (December 29, 2021)— Frederick C. Braun III, Chairman of the Town of Brookhaven Industrial Development Agency (IDA) announced today that the Agency closed an economic incentives package for Middle Country Meadows, LLC on December 29th for a $37 million project in Selden that would construct a 55 and over adult community with 124 rental units, including 36 units reserved for residents earning less than 80% or less than the area median income.

The development will be built at 1277 Middle Country Road in Selden, currently a vacant 13-acre site. Middle Country Meadows, LLC also developed the Overbay housing project in Port Jefferson.

“There is an enormous demand for rental units for our seniors in the Town of Brookhaven and this will help to boost the local economy,” said Braun. “We are also extremely pleased that 36 units will be affordable housing.”

The developer has also committed to deliver the following public benefits to the community: a new sidewalk connecting to the nearby Independence Shopping Plaza, a trail available for use by local high school cross country teams, ball field lighting for Selden Center Little League, a memorial monument and bench and a clubhouse for use by civic groups.
