COVID-19 Resources for Business Community

March 25 IDA Board meeting will be available live via conference call

FARMINGVILLE, NY (March 24, 2020) — The Brookhaven Industrial Development Agency (IDA) is providing helpful resources & information for businesses and the economic development community as the IDA adapts and works towards recovery from the impact of COVID-19. 

 

“As COVID-19 reaches across New York State, we are committed to providing you with the most update information as we receive it.,” said Frederick C. Braun III, chairman of the Town of Brookhaven IDA. “We know you have a lot of questions and we are doing our best to make sure you have the information you need.”

In addition, due to the ban of recent State and Federal bans on large meetings or gatherings and pursuant to Governor Cuomo’s Executive Order, the Agency’s next board meeting scheduled for Wednesday, March 25, 2020 will be held electronically via conference call instead of a public meeting open for the public to attend in person. Members of the public may listen to the Board Meeting by calling (712) 770-5505 and entering access code 884-124. Minutes of the Town of Brookhaven Industrial Development Agency Board Meeting will be transcribed and posted on the Agency’s website.

Eligible small businesses throughout New York may now apply for U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) online at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela. Please click here for a fact sheet with information about the declaration and requirements. Businesses can take advantage of free assistance offered by SBA’s network of Resource Partners, visit  to find local help. The NYS Small Business Development Center network recommends submitting a request for assistance online at http://nyssbdc.org/appointment.html.

The IRS has established a special section with steps to help taxpayers, businesses, and others affected by the coronavirus: https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus. The U.S. tax filing deadline has been pushed back from April 15 to July 15, 2020.

Empire State Development (ESD) has issued vital guidance for the implementation of Executive Order 202.6 restrictions on non-essential business, and Executive Order 202.7, which increases the required staff reduction for non-essential business to 75%. ESD has also established a special online intake portal https://esd.ny.gov/covid-19-help for individuals and businesses to relay business-related COVID-19 questions and concerns.
